Why and how we started our personal sustainable journey - a small insight

We – like probably a lot of people – were very much engaged into our full-time jobs and led a very busy lifestyle with little time for self-reflection and questioning things in our surroundings. For most people a huge change in life like a family member being irreversibly sick or the birth of a child puts a sudden break to everything which used to be daily “business”. So, it happened that both events took place in our lives within less than a year.

Everything changed. Priorities shifted.

We left or changed our full-time jobs to get more time for the family, we adopted a homeless puppy, we began to think about life, its purpose, our planet and our natural surroundings. We wanted to make a change, make a difference for our child’s future.

As new parents we started to think more than twice before purchasing things like clothes, food and other baby supplies. We started asking questions like where is the fabric coming from, what colors were used, and does it have any harmful ingredients for children and us? The more we read and researched about the production of clothes etc. the more we realised how we got sucked into fast fashion and non-sustainable products. It was simply overwhelming and frustrating. Where do we start? What can we still use or buy?

We are still learning and improving step by step.

As the headline of this post suggests: It is a personal journey in the making and we can only share our thoughts, actions and ideas which work for us as a small family and founders of Indee Soul.
