Commitment to Sustainability
With our best efforts, Indee Soul aspires to follow a fully sustainable and ethical production style. This is our number one priority. Not just as early as in the design phase or during the creation phase of our elegant and ethical products, but we also invest into the journey that our products make from our home to yours in the most environmentally friendly way.
We fully reject mass made or fast fashion approach.
Instead, we focus on waste minimisation and working on limited number of products for each Indee Soul category. This helps us to not just give close attention to detail and quality but also gives our artisans a stress free and creative environment to unleash their creativity in a more self-paced manner. We love to work with natural fibres and say no to synthetics.
In the design process, selecting a fibre is one of the first steps. We strive to source fibres that are produced by nature. We do not work with synthetics. Natural fibres come from earth, so at the end of the product's long lifecycle will return to earth, decomposing much faster whereas synthetics are essentially plastic.
We make sure that all Indee Soul fabrics use non-toxic dyes.
Free from hazardous elements such as pesticides, lead, amines, nickel, and heavy metals. The use of natural dyes has been traditional for years for all artisanal communities in India. We strongly support and encourage the use of their traditional natural dyeing process. We love hand-spun yarn,
rather than machine-made that utilises more energy. Hand-spun yarns are also gentle on our skin, cool in summer and warm in winter. As they have a more uneven and fluffy surface compared to machine-made yarn, it offers more natural UV protection than its counterpart, protecting your skin from sun damage in a more natural way.
We know that our artisans love their handlooms,
which are simple hand powered machines used for weaving. This has advantage of no electricity usage for weaving, flexibility of small production quantities, encouraging artisan’s innovations, adaptability to consumer’s special requests and appreciating the artisan’s age-old skill. We avoid power looms due to their immense energy consumption.
